Hens arrive for annual conclave with first year special. The event features high quality birds on exhibition and a cockerel given away each evening. A cat and dog show is a special feature drawing crowds.
All entries for the poultry show must be in by 10 o clock tomorrow morning. Local exhibitors are urged to bring entries this afternoon or tonight for timely opening. delays may occur if many wait until tomorrow morning.
Hundreds of high class chickens arrive in Wasona to compete in the big show in the Smith Crawford building. Dickinuwon and Leigvy of Walla Walla showcase Golden Wyandottes while Columbian Plymouth Rocks and Sussex chicks draw attention. Judges from Oregon City will score the birds as doors open at 10.
Secretary Ballinger today withdrew from entry ground with possible water power sites totaling 17,282 acres in Idaho, 2,649 acres along the Walla Walla river in Oregon, and 2,416 acres in Utah, signaling a shift in public land policy.

In Jefferson City Missouri two men were detained following a holdup on the Missouri Pacific express near Kurjeva on Saturday. Police reported partial identifications but no arrests announced today.
Toledo Jan 24 Achille Joss of Cleveland, a top American League pitcher, was today offered the post as catcher for the Harvard baseball team.
In Eeho Ore Stanfield area a snow melt caused heavy flooding Wednesday. Waste waters overwhelmed a government ditch near the town, flooding streets several inches deep. Concrete walls were built to protect the ditch, but property around Stanfield remains heavily affected and town streets show rising water levels.
In the murder of Jennie Bosschieter, Weath and Meister, with Jesree Kore and Andrew J Campbell, were found guilty of second degree murder. McAlister Death and Campbell received 30 years hard labor, with other defendants facing 15 to 30 years in Ward labor. The case described as one of the most revolting in New Jersey.
