Denver hosts a week of joint sessions by the National Livestock Association National Woolgrowers Association and the Cattle Growers Interstate executive committee. The National Woolgrowers convened its 4th annual meeting with President Warren delivering the social address.
Thirty vessels of the navy participated in a naval review in Hampton Roads today as Secretary Morton and Admiral Dewey led distinguished officers in inspecting the fleet. The procession passed seaward in single column past the flagship Dolphin in what was described as the most spectacular naval pageant in America. San Francisco January 9 reports describe a failed inmate uprising at Bill Bid prison Dec 7 by about 500 convicts. Sixteen prisoners were killed and 40 wounded, with 26 in critical condition. all wounded were not expected to survive. Denver January 5 notes Governor Peabody will file contest papers after Lieutenant Governor-elect McDonald is sworn in. A Modern Woodmen camp investigated a missing man, with a search showing he last registered September 9 at the Hotel the Sth, his money and watch gone, his body later found in a box car after a heavy jolt.
In September excitement rose around Bickleton when mail contractor E A Lawson on the Kuhn Bickleton route vanished mysteriously. He had informed his parents near Bickleton he would return by September 6 or 7, but he did not arrive or send word, sparking fears of foul play.
