May Now Adopt La Follette Bill.
Washington correspondent John B&B Lathrop notes that President Roosevelt’s message shifted Senate action toward La Follette’s bill authorizing the Interstate Commerce Commission to value railroad properties. Committee leaders Dolliver Cullom and five Democrats back action. Opponents Elkins Aldrich Kean Foraker Clapp Crang resist. The measure would set a basis for railroad rates and reveal watered stock debt versus real value.
