Eagle Captured Near Peula After Marauding Sheep Raid
Hubert Fleischinger of near Peula brought a seven foot eagle to Lewiston, said to be the finest northwest specimen. The American bird had preyed on Fleischinger’s mutton flock, taking about forty lambs and injuring many sheep. Fleischinger watched with a rifle since spring, shot the marauder Thursday, and the bird yielded a three and a half inch talon mass of wool and flesh. George Goldman at Cold Storage displayed and plans to mount the trophy. Goldman values the prized eagle at about two hundred dollars, while corn prices sent hogs rushing to Chicago, with 75,000 head by noon.
