J F Robinson heads the club as members elect a mixed managing board for the coming year. Dr C J Smith wins out at large and FE and J Murphy become vice president with Keefe reelected to position on the leadership slate.
The club announces its new officers led by President J F Robinson and Vice President E J Murphy. Secretary John Dickson and Treasurer list G M Rice and J Smith among directors including R Alexander W L Thompson A J McAllister W J Clark C M Bishop Harry Gray and L G Fraser.
A large meeting elected J F Robinson to head the Commercial Association for the year starting March 1 with E J Murphy as vice president and J Keefe Jr re-elected secretary. John Dickson named treasurer and nine directors chosen including G M Rice J Smith R Alexander and others. An anti Smith faction disrupted the nine-director vote, triggering a close contest as supporters countered with organized moves.
Roy Evans spoke at a Baptist revival denouncing church membership as the measure of faith and urging living a holy life. He argued that true Christianity is a daily life not attendance and called on listeners to practice kindness as they left the service. The large crowd included many women and men and saw several make professions.
Memphis reports say seven masked bandits robbed Rock Island train No 33 two miles north of Hurlburt Arkansas early today. They blew the express car, seized about $160000 and a sack of registered matter, and escaped as posses swarm the area. Mall clerk Beadle fled the car and reached the station exhausted after a two mile run.
Chicago February 7. Rock Island railroad officials deny the Hurlburt bandito secured more than one sack of registered mail. They assert the dynamite blast set the car on fire and destroyed the express gate and its contents.
Pendleton moves to build a hard surface boulevard from Main Street bridge to the city limits and possibly to the branch asylum grounds. Councilors discuss paving Jackson and Raley streets and linked routes with wide parking, aiming for durability and thinner driveways, with a decision postponed for a week. Port Orchard Washington February 7 Linda Hazzard fasting cure specialist was sentenced to two to twenty years in the penitentiary by Judge Yakey for manslaughter in the death of Miss Claire Williamson a wealthy English woman who died during the fasting cure at her sanitarium The defense moved for a new trial but it was denied Notice of appeal was filed and she was released on ten thousand dollar bonds.
Florida delegates to Chicago split at Palatka as two delegations form. One backs Theodore Roosevelt for president, the other seeks Taft renomination, after a state convention that fractured the Taft-backed organization and created a Roosevelt-led ticket.
Norfolk county Republicans meet in Norfolk Virginia on February 7 endorsing President Taft for the Republican nomination. The resolution backs Taft amid GOP dynamics with local party leaders urging united support.
The reading of Maeterlinck's The Blue Bird by Cora Mel Patten at City Hall was warmly received under the Women’s Clubs patronage. Patrons praised Patten’s subtle interpretation and the drama’s hopeful lesson about the Source of Happiness. The event was a highlight of the year for Pendleton residents. Redwood City Calif February 7 charging Timothy with murder in the Moore case. Attorney Mansfield filed a habeas corpus writ before Superior Judge Buck seeking Timothy's release. Writ returnable tomorrow after noon. Mansfield argues evidence at the preliminary hearing shows Timothy acted in self defense.
Mrs Mary Arnett of Sherifl Texas Co Missouri asks for information on the whereabouts of Carmlet children said to attend school nearby. She reports they are the nieces and are the children of her brother Joe Carmler, whose trace she has lost. Postmaster Brown has the inquiry.
Capsizing occurred four miles above Elktown as three men crossed Smith River in a frail skiff. Edward Roosman, 28, and an unidentified companion named Rossman drowned. A ferryman rescued the remaining occupant.
Police Sergeant Andrews of Walla Walla will pass through Pendleton this evening on a trip from New York to a destination where he took nine undesirable citizens for deportation. Chief of Police Kearney has received a message stating his arrival here this evening.
Officers from La Grande arrived this week to take charge of M. J. Kelly, arrested here by Officer Tra Hughes on advice from Union County authorities, who stated Kelly was wanted for passing bad checks.

Rev J M Cornelison returned with plans for a Panama Exposition work expo in 1915. He visited San Angelo Seminary and reported an enjoyable stay.
Deputy Sheriff A C Funk endured embarrassment when Charles Marsh, secretary of Hartman Abstract, poured French rouge and transferred a dab to the top of Funk s head. The rosy hue on his bare scalp drew astonished looks from visitors as Funk puzzled over the amused reactions.

Official advices from Mexico City report rebels have captured six cities in Chihuahua state. No further details were available as of this afternoon.
Three teen armed Mexicans were captured on the American side of the Rio Grande fifteen miles northeast of Pass after an early morning raid.
