At Pilot Hutte ranch east of Bend, ranch hand L G Tillery was kicked in the forehead by a sick horse. He and two companions rose at 1:30 to tend the animal, Tillery slipped from view behind a hay stack, was found with a crushed skull and brain bone fragments. No doctors were available until ten hours later. he has a young wife and baby.
William Hall, an Alaskan miner, completed a perilous nearly 10 000 mile trek from Seattle to Yokohama and back, enduring ice entrapment off the Katte Gisuke peninsula, a Siberian overland traverse, and harsh winter seas. He used seven boats, a reindeer team, bow outfits, and a 2000 mile Siberian walk before boarding the Iyo Maru in Seattle.

Roanoke Va Dec 24 In a platel fight on Wytheville main street Chief of Police Walter McClintock and B A Cregger were killed. McClintock shot Cregger after he had been mortally wounded. The two bodies fell in the thoroughfare. Chief McClintock and a deputy had a warrant for the arrest of B E A Cregger and his brother Dave charging robbery.
Former Senator W A Clark repeated his year end turkey gesture, distributing between 104000 and 12000 birds to married men in Montana Utah New Jersey Arizona California and Nevada. Heads of families who are single were also remembered.
