Closing night events highlight one of the best poultry shows, with OUDS in place and high praise for exhibit setup and management. Winners posted. public viewing tomorrow for those unable to attend during the week.
A five dollar gold piece will be among the door prizes for visitors at the poultry show this evening. The Curtis Poultry Ranch of Hermiston and the Northwest Poultry Journal of Salem sponsor the event, with at least five other prizes offered.
The second annual Umatilla Morrow county poultry show closes tonight at the armory with nearly $60 in prizes for visitors Present. Judges and poultrymen praise the smooth running event though attendance lagged. Winners include Thfp Dilitamea and Windle Brothers for Plymouth Rocks, Duke and Averill for Buff Orpingtons, Williams for Columbian Plymouth Rocks, and Humphrey and Boyd for Black Minorcas. Drawings offer cash and eggs, with several prizes still to be awarded.

New York December 17 Rockefellers Standard Oil declares a quarterly dividend of ten percent totaling ten million on all stock. John D Rockefeller is estimated to have received around 180 million in standard old dividends plus a hundred million as equity profits. The company has distributed 709 813 620 in dividends to date. In Seattle on December 17 editor Leroy Sander of the Seattle Star and managing editor Hugh Allen were sentenced for contempt of court after criticizing a temporary injunction used against residents in the Duwamish valley street railway fight with Stone Webster Interests. Sander got three months, Allen one month, and the Star was fined $300. Sander expected early release after a night in jail. The editors vow to carry the case to the U S Supreme Court.
Copenhagen reports former Minister of Justice Alberti jailed for eighty years and fined four million dollars for extensive thefts during fourteen year career as banker broker and official. The crimes are said to be Denmark's largest and hundreds were ruined with authorities pursuing hidden millions.
Chicago date December 17 A labor commissioner Charles P Neill arrived to meet railroad managers in Chicago amid threats of a nationwide engineer wage strike. He will confer with railroad reps then meet engineers Monday to seek a settlement.

In La Grande Oregon a tramp known as Shorty tried to steal 150 dollars from the La Grande National Bank by passing a fraudulent check. The cashier had counted and pushed out the bills, but the suspect fled, chased by patrons then overtaken near Stewart's opera house where the money was recovered.
Cleveland December 17 An earthquake similar to the Java disaster was recorded by the seismograph at St. Ignatius college last night. The shock is estimated to have occurred six thousand miles away.
