Rural Routes Rise As 1907 Adds 1962 New Paths
A report from the fourth assistant postmaster general details a large growth in rural mail delivery during the year ended June 26 1907. Routes expanded to 7 728 aided by 37 582 carriers, with 2 312 new routes and 2 50 discontinued, net increase 1 962. Expenditures reached 1 529 300 74 amid savings from consolidation and underuse of leave costs.
