Duluth dispatch reports Booth line steamer Maston reported on rocks at Iroquois reef in Lake Superior thirty miles west of Port Arthur. Attempts are under way to resume wireless contact as authorities fear fifty passengers and several crew members may have perished amid heavy seas.
Hamilton Bermuda Dec 6 The engagement for President-elect Wilson’s conference with William Jennings Bryan arose after Wilson hinted he might visit Florida Bryan planned a Miami trip and Wilson invited a future meeting on return to the United States The exchange shows no friction among Democratic leaders and Wilson plans to act without a single adviser leaving decisions open to discussion with Bryan and others.
Philadelphia December 6. Mayor Ralph of San Francisco sought the liberty bell for the Pan American fair but a council bill was introduced to forbid its removal. The issue remains unsettled since a new council will be elected before the fair.
In Los Angeles the Southern California Medical society heard that W C Dean faced a feared aneurysm cured by a device delivering 10 000 sixty pound blows per minute. Dean received two five minute daily sessions with the pneumatic piston aimed at his seventh cervical vertebra and showed improvement. He attributed the aneurysm to a past injury.
In San Francisco on December 6 Miss Jennie Morse filed a New York suit to annul the sale of the steamers Yale and Harvard to Pacific Navigation Co. She owns 167 shares in Metropolitan Steamship Co, original owner, and says the sale followed an illegal transfer. She also alleges Metropolitan fell to New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad, creating a monopoly on New York to Boston passenger traffic.
Elizabeth Lang of Logansport Indiana was given an indeterminate prison term from two to twenty one years after shooting and killing a woman guest at her wedding supper. The judge cited alleged slander of her son as the motive.

Tacoma December 6 In the thirteenth annual convention of the State Good Hands association John P Hartman of Seattle was elected president The group adopted resolutions including a 600000 appropriation for Washington s building and display at the Panama Pacific exposition urged an ad mill levy for permanent state highways denounced the pork barrel method and urged public highway funds be split roughly east and west The convention selected North Yakima as the next meeting place and will memorialize Congress for two more national highways to aid national development
Final testimony in the government suit to quiet title to 2,800,000 acres along 30 miles on each side of the Southern Pacific main line from California to Portland was taken before Special Examiner W. H. Willis. The land, valued at $75,000,000, awaits presentation to the U S district court in Portland for decision.
Indianapolis labor defendant and ex-president of Springfield local of Iron Workers resumed testimony. The witness chewed gum and distracted Prosecutor Miller. Minneapolis December 6 A state representative Nimocks announced plans to introduce a bill prohibiting marriages between whites and blacks following the Johnson Cameron wedding.

Visitors from Warm Springs Simnasho Kam Fah Lapwai and other reservations total about thirty five, with services daily at 9 am 2 pm and 7 pm.
Sacramento police report says burglars blew open the Florin Supply Company safe at Florin today and secured three dollars in cash. The blast caused $500 in damage, the safe blown to bits.
Biographical sketch of George W Perry burial yesterday recounts birth May 1851 in Medina township Lenawee county Michigan age 61 years six months and 28 days married to Elizabeth Flickinger February 27 1876. The family moved from Michigan to Montana then California Albany and Salem Oregon. He died at St Marys hospital Walla Walla in December. Survived by son R E Perry Pendleton and brother Irwin Perry Morenci Michigan. Mrs Perry died in Morenci November 1902.
The 1913 school tax in the Pen Meton district will be nine mills, equal to city council levies. The school board, in a meeting yesterday, ordered the nine mill levy, up three mills from last year to cover the new high school building. An estimated 12,000 is needed for proper fitting. The county court’s 1012 levy is pending for January term.

Edward Del ehante, described as a giant African American convict, was hanged at San Quentin for the murder of fellow inmate William Kaufman. The execution occurred at 10:30 this morning in Folsom, California.

Washington December 6 Andrew Furuseth president of the International Seamen's union and Robert Swayne a ship owner clashed in the senate sub committee hearing over reports of shippers opposing the seamen involuntary servitude bill. Swayne called the measure a menace to trade while Furuseth argued it will uplift the sailors.
In Portland Oregon this morning Assistant Chief Laudendlos Captain Wim Heath and Lieut Johnson of the fire department were slightly injured while battling the blaze that destroyed Erickson's saloon and the Dewey lodging house. Rose Dunn, landlord of the Dewey home, leapt from a second story window as flames drove through the building. About 125 lodgers escaped the flames.
