Dispatches from Idaho report 112 dead in forest fires, with Wallace area seeing 80 fatalities and several bodies found along Big Creek. A 180 man forestry party escaped to the St Joe river shore, four burned. Sallese town near Wallace is reportedly burning as winds shift and threaten the 25 mile area.
Spokane reports a devastating fire season with Wallace damaged and Taft St Regis Avery in danger. Dozens dead or missing near Wallace Ble Creek War Eagle Mine Big Creek Mullan St Jon and 180 trapped as 3000 refugees gather in the region. One million dollars lost in Wallace. rain is urgently needed to halt the spread.

Spokane August 22. Northern Pacific officials admit a train carrying 42 refugees and 9 nurses from Wallace Providence hospital was likely burned to death near Wallace while fleeing toward Missoula. London, Aug. 22. Misfortune continued to pursue Meissant today as high winds forced him to descend after circling high in the air trying to fly from Upchurch to London. He flew to Seven Oaks, windward of London, and landed in a field where the propeller, planes, and rudder were broken. He planned to attempt the flight again tomorrow. Seven Oaks is 22 miles east of London. A gale tipped the aeroplane during the flight.
New York on August 22 reports that F. Augustus Heinze, the Montana copper magnate tied to federal probes, is engaged to Bernice Henderson of the A Fool There Was company. The couple plans marriage this week and then travel to Europe.
Father Point Aug 22 The wireless station reports liner Megan tie bearing Dr Crippen and Mme Leneve at mouth of St Lawrence River. Prisoners kept closely guarded in cabins. Inspector Dew, known to many journalists aboard, registered the prisoners under assumed names and did not recognize the reporters. His actions provoke much joking.
Two thousand lodges across the United States Canada and Mexico attend the eleventh grand aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles opening in St Louis today. Besides sessions there will be parades concerts drills and social entertainments. About 375000 Eagles now exist making the order one of the five largest fraternals in the United States.
London reports the British warship Bedford with 687 crew ran aground at Quelpart island near the Korean coast. Eighteen sailors drowned as salvage efforts failed amid a gale. the ship, built in 1903 for over three million dollars, is believed to be pounded to pieces despite attempts by Monmouth and Minotaur to refloat it.
