He wrote it is after 3 o'clock and he feels he is dying, his head clear, then a coming spasm and final exit with goodbye.

Foreman H. A. Enslie testified at the Spreckles Libel case that San Quentin convicts produced furniture including five bedsteads and a dining table. Much was reportedly found in Joseph Aguerre’s home, with a prisoner bellwether bedstead stamped with a G believed linked to the governor’s residence. General Jacob H. Smith was honored with a public reception and banquet in Portsmouth Ohio on August 21. About 70 citizens attended as Mayor Mileread delivered the welcome.
