Strike at Yakima over hourly pay demands
Twenty four teamsters hauling dirt filler for the Northern Pacific warehouse quit after refusing the old scale of 40 cents per hour and demanding 60 cents. Contractor H D Stewart refused to raise pay. a meeting of all teamsters was planned at Gatchell's hall. Stewart argued workers were not earning 60 cents and the wagons held little gravel. The supervisor stated the strike did not worry him as the build is in a stage where teams are not essential for some time. In other news Peter Ronquet, from Enterprise, reports the new Wallowa county court home is complete at a cost of 38000, built in two weeks by Mr Bowquet.
