Oyster Bay August 16. Starting in March Colonel Roosevelt will travel to the Pacific coast delivering the Charter Day address at the University of California on March 24. He will take the southern route and head to Denver on August 23 to address the cattlemen's congress, then return directly to New York.
Lewiston, Aug 15 Ernest Thomas keeper of the Tramway warehouse killed mining man Hugh Laverty after a picnic trip. Thomas says three men forced him at gunpoint to shoot Laverty in a cabin. the body was found today.
Hoboken reports Mayor Gaynor’s condition is satisfactory and improving after a night of rest. Medical doctors say he is in excellent condition and able to take solid nourishment, with steady progress noted this morning.
Chicago on August 15 Judge Sands ordered Attorney Union and three Armour & Co department heads to testify this afternoon to determine if stenographic notebooks were destroyed before or after the federal land jury requested them.
London Aug 156. The coroner’s death forces a rehearing of preliminary testimony in the inquest into the death of a woman believed to be Mrs Crippen. Experts testified the woman matched Mrs Crippen’s size and died after a surgical operation. After three hours of testimony, the hearing was postponed until September 4.
Richmond Virginia August 15 a tuberculosis camp opened nearby today with more applications than capacity and plans for additional buildings to meet demand cleanup and care for patients expected to rise this season the facility aims to provide treatment and shelter for those with tuberculosis in the region.

Baltimore August 15 The Baltimore Sun links the deaths of Edith May Woodill in St Michaels Maryland and the Italian murder of Mrs Chariton to a possible role by Mrs Charlton. The Sun cites Eastman letters, neighbors, and bank records, noting Charlton present at a Baltimore bank in 1909 and positing he may have met his wife in January.

Sulphur Oklahoma August 15 Former District Attorney W B Johnson who protested the quashing of indictments against Manefield McMurray and Cornish was dismissed and reinstated 15 minutes later He testified indictments in his eight years as United States district attorney numbered 65000 with only one investigated He recalled August 1905 hearings in Washington with Assistant Attorney General Russell Cecil Lyon present Johnson noted a $10000 check signed by McMurray and quipped about a fee Le dbetter replied I have some good contracts
