In Los Angeles on April 25 seven men participated in a Vernon saloon gun fight after robbers struck the place. Police Chief Harrin, who was in the saloon, opened fire as the proprietor refused to open the bar. Two men are dead, one dying, another fatally wounded, and a fifth seriously injured. one bandit remains unidentified.
Tomorrow afternoon Pendleton high tracks coaches plan a medley meet with four events including a yard dash and distances from 100 yards to the mile. A cup from the Jolly Bachelor club will honor the winner. The season closes with a trip to Walla Walla next Friday and an Eastern Oregon meet May 11 here. Pendleton aims to retain the cup after previously winning it twice.

Delegates from the Umatilla County Chapter of the American Red Cross were named yesterday for a second instruction session in Seattle May 11. Named were Mrs. BG Cohm, Mrs G Hartman, Mrs Charles Greulich, Mrs A Cox, Mrs F. Be ing, Mrs C F Bormey of Pendleton, and Mrs J H Stretin of Hermiston. Others may be chosen to cover travel expenses. volunteers expected. C E Roosevelt was appointed secretary, succeeding Th W Ritner who resigned. The chapter audited a month, spending $1010.55 with $1,?07.29 on hand. The Valley Quality War name changed to Ferndale. Board includes Mrs J Johansn, Mrs A Williamne, Mr Charles Greulich, Mrs PB Kine, Mrs A HM Cov, Mrs EB, Mrs J L Strahm, Mr Co W Conner, Mrs ReoFagan, Mrs L J Kirk.
East Oregonian reports a Poh tht street incident in which M. MeCormmach, an Ogore elder, was dragged four blocks while his foot remained in a stirrup. Bystanders rescued him and he suffered noncritical injuries though he was bruised and disoriented.
A detailed program for a Liberty Loan demonstration is set in Pendleton with C. Matlock as speakers' chair. The lineup includes a street sing, parade to Happy Canyon, community events, theater music, and national songs performed by local groups and an audience chorus.
