Freewater and Milton Station to Boost City Water Supply

Milton plans to buy Bowman Springs to extend water to a reservoir and tap the Walla Walla River for supplemental supply. The Walla Walla Traction Co will begin building a shared passenger freight depot between Milton and Freewater, near North Milton. A second depot is planned for southern Milton.

Nat Hall Arrested in Indiana Miners Murder Case

Nat Hall is jailed in La Grande charged with the murder of Endland at the Indiana mines last Wednesday. Sheriff Childers brought the prisoner from Baker City and reports Hall is in mental agony since Endland’s death Saturday noon. The case centers on a suspected ground for attack against Paland, with Hall’s conscience weighed on the events.

Fishman and Peters sell the Pendleton Steam Laundry to H. H. Nolen of Carroll Iowa. Nolen and his son R E B Nolen will run the business hereafter. Old partner Charles Fiehman likely leaves Pendleton around June 1. Peters plans to move to the ice business in Portland. Two years earlier Mesers Fishman Peters bought the laundry from Joe Hoeh and have run a successful operation. The sale includes the plant equipment and goodwill. Contempt Case In Boise Over Jury Tampering Allegation

In Boise on April 24 in district court W M Yost faced a contempt citation after juror Wagner alleged Yost discussed the Moyer Haywood case and tried to influence the juror. Nugent and Miller represented Yost and the federation's attorneys moved to quash the affidavit for lack of offense. The judge took the motion under advisement.

In Ludington Michigan on April 24 a young woman wearing a life preserver marked Arcadian was found three miles offshore. She appears to be the cook of the ill fated steamer.

Raymond Team Runs Away on Webb Street Collision Stops Horses

A black team owned by Fred Raymond bolted on Webb Street as a W. and C. railroad train passed. The output crashed into a telephone post at Webb and Garden, forcing a halt. No injuries. the survey experienced minor damage.

Hermiston Moves to Incorporation After Rapid Growth

Hermiston plans to incorporate a one by two mile town as citizens push the measure. A Commercial Club meeting set another session to advance the plan. The town’s rapid growth boosted school enrollment from six to sixty nine, triggering extra state funds for the district and additional support from Superintendent Welles.
