Jim Narcisse a well known Umatilla Indian about 40 was found dead near Cayuse station. Coroner Henderson inquired this afternoon with meager facts. He reportedly shot himself last night after heavy drinking. previously he had a prior suicide attempt near Welser Idaho.

Santa Rosa a total wreck: city destroyed, homeless

Santa Rosa records a complete ruin with ten thousand homeless residents. The quake and fire decimated Malin Street, all county buildings, and the water system is destroyed. Citizens flee to the hills as fires burn through the remains of the business district.

Permits for Grazing in Blue Mountain Reserve

The Forest Superintendent D B Sheller of Baker City announces that grazing permit applications for the eastern half of the Blue Mountain forest reserve must reach his Baker City office by May 19. The reserve includes Amber and range lands in Grant and Baker counties. Interested parties should request forms from Mr Sheller. grazing season opens about June 1.

Pendleton Primary Day Planned Voting Times and Precincts

Tomorrow marks primary day with polls opening at noon and counting to follow. Pendleton precincts align with wards. locations include Hotel Pendleton sample room Ward 2 Water and Mall, old academy Webb Street Ward 1, Salvation Army Webb Street Ward 53, and Mrs Bishop property West Webb for Ward 4.
