The letter promises cures for many diseases by nerve and blood nourishment, cites endorsements and thousands sold abroad, invites readers to consult free in Pendleton Oregon or write with symptoms.
Claim appears that dandruff stems from a scalp germ and that only Newhero's Herpicide destroys the germ to prevent hair loss. Advertisement directed by W. Schmidt as special agent in Detroit Michigan, urging readers to send “1 to The Herpicide Co.” for details and price.
L Shaw, veteran irrigationist, predicts a banner year for alfalfa, wheat, fruit, and gardens in Umatilla County as abundant water and improved laws could reclaim idle land. The Spokane Press reveals a hidden system where orders were left at agencies for immoral purposes. A reporter posed as a dance hall manager to solicit girls, while another posed as a job seeker to entrap the agents. Six agencies were exposed and condemned by the Spokane trade council of 4,000 union tellers, urging city council action to reveal licenses of offending firms.
