Dispatches from Paris Seoul and London report a palace fire in Seoul destroying parts of the imperial complex. Emperors and royal family reportedly escaped. French sailors saved valuables. News also notes conflicting claims on Russian fleet losses and a Grand Duke Cyril’s health.
A six year old child, M. Lucas, died last night at 404 Ash Street after illnesses including measles and typhoid. Funeral held this afternoon at 3 o clock at the cemetery with Rev. Hall of the Baptist Church officiating. Mr and Mrs Lucas arrived from Willishan about six weeks ago.
Fragmentary notes indicate a trial involving a Mr. Dunning, with a group present and issues defended during the morning proceedings.
Portland April 15 Republican state convention nominated F A Moore for supreme court justice and J W Bailey for food and dairy commissioner. Moore nominated by acclamation. Holman of Multnomah County opposed Bailey. Democrats Name a Republican Wonton April 8: county convention backed John Frawley for county treasurer, incumbent and former railroad conductor, severely injured in a wreck. One Dead One Dying St Joseph April 15 following family quarrel a shooting left Charles Foster dead and John Grady dying. no witnesses reported.
Frank Maeder stockholder in Buffalo Bills Wild West show petitions chancery court for a receiver and examination of officers to reveal financial status and profits. He alleges no dividends in 1903 and intent to force sale of his shares at a sacrifice. Ministers Tufts Mahone to lead temperance meetings in Pendleton with sermons and rallies at churches Sunday.
Miss Thompson produced the Huskin Bow dress rehearsal at Frazer under the Women's Clubs for the Sachjawen monument fund. The test evening drew the full cast in costume and passed without a hitch, praised as a unique and entertaining program never seen here. The club ladies commend Miss Thompson for her effort in engaging the young performers.

C K Moulton land attorney for the Northern Pacific announces that within 10 days the company will open for sale all lands recently ruled to have clear title by supreme court. Only settlers may bid to discourage speculators. This is the first sale in overlap district in 12 years.

In a foggy morning mishap the Inland Flyer bound for Seattle from Bremerton struck a reef at Restoration Point, was lifted onto rocks, and lies beam on. All 40 passengers escaped unharmed with damage undetermined.
Horticultural Commissioner Judd Geer, guest of Professor E B Conklin, rode up from the Republican state convention and planned a tour of Milton orchards today. He will advise orchardists on spraying for pests and praised Umatilla county’s interest in fruit pest prevention and law compliance.

St. Petersburg April 16 The carrier reports a battle ready woman named Gorka has joined the Russian forces bound for the Far East. Her ardor impressed officers as she urged service even as a drummer, eager to serve in the ranks alongside male soldiers. The army reportedly may accept her as a common soldier if she goes.
Plans by C. Be Frontman call for a full front remodel and a new central double entrance as the Peoples Warehouse building adds an upper story equal in size to the lower. Interior reconfiguration aims for completion within two months from start. No tickets east of Baker City until O R and N repairs progress. Powder and Burnt rivers flood the area, washing out the Powder River bridge east of Baker City and one Burnt River bridge near Huntington. G W Phelps of Heppner secured the Republican district convention nomination for district attorney over John McCourt of Pendleton. The contest arose after McCourt’s campaign style drew opposition. Phelps supports open town policies and vows to end the previous DA’s lenient approach.
Judge Geisler of Portland is in town to push a reorganization of Hindley Clove Foundry Company. The plan aims to revive the factory, attract investment, and place a harvester improvement in production. If funded, the project could yield large dividends and expand plant capacity for repairs nationwide.
Dr W G Cole of this city was unanimously nominated for state representative between Umatilla and Morrow counties at a recent convention in Portland. The nomination follows favorable reception of his candidacy and prompt promotion, with broad party approval and esteem for his public service.
In Defence of Roeski Chicago April 1h Marx testified in the Krol Hroemki saloon holdup case that he killed Otto Bauder, stating it was his own deed not Hoenkl. The exchange described a plan to “Kill Roecki” and notes Mars faces a death sentence while the credibility of the story is questioned.
