Athena Confident in County Ticket Nominated by Democrats
The county Democratic convention rejected a strong ticket and presented an evenly balanced slate for the June election. Led by Dr. C. J. Smith for state senator, the ticket includes Blakley, Reser, Taylor, Chamberlain, Marsh, Hansford, Strain, plus Pendleton surveyor and coroner. The platform stresses county issues with broader aims, while Scott supports Williams and Furnish at the state convention and hints at a possible bid for Oregon's U.S. Senate.
