Buick previews the 1962 Electra 225 at Chicago on Sept 15 and announces displays at Vander Ploeg Motors in Monroe on Sept 27. The model features a redesigned roofline, windsplit decklid, larger look, and a V-8 401 engine with Turbine Drive, with V-6 as standard and aluminum V-8 optional.
Tri County Wheat Growers face revised 1962 wheat marketing quotas and penalties as small producers under 15 acres and those with low past production may be subject to the program. The old 200 bushel exemption and 15 acre exemption are gone, with new limits and penalties tied to past years and 1962 allotments. Approximately two thirds of U S wheat producers grow under 15 acres but account for about one sixth of national production.
Army Pvt. Robert J. Van Houwelingen of the 8th Division 26th Infantry took part in Wind-Drift a week long field exercise in Sennalager Germany. Parachute drops and maneuvers paired against the 26th Infantry tested unit efficiency under simulated combat conditions. He is a 1965 Pella high school graduate and was employed by De Jong Construction Co. before joining the Army. His wife Arlene lives at 600 W First St Pella.

Oldsmobile announces smoother operation through longer crankshaft bearings on Rocket Skyrocket and Starfire engines and larger body mountings with revised springs and shock valving for 1962 88 98 and Starfire models. The 1963 Dynamic 88 Super 88 and 98 offer seventeen body styles fifteen exterior colors six interior combinations with acrylic lacquer finishes.
Oldsmobile unveils 1962 88 and 98 models with a longer lower silhouette and Starfire Coupe. The Starfire engine delivers 120 horsepower from a 194 cu in six, with Hydra-Matic upgrades and smoother gear transitions. 14 exterior colors and color keyed interiors, plus power steering and brakes, are highlighted as options.
