Thirteen Farm Ponds Stocked With Game Fish
The Marion County farms stocked 13 new ponds with about 4 000 fingerlings from the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service hatcheries at Fairport near Davenport. Each pond received one bass for every ten bluegills, a favorable mix for pond culture. Bluegills proved plentiful and sizable in several ponds, while a farmer reported a 4 pound bass at the Lowell Johnson farm pond. The effort raises total farm ponds in good order to about 125 across the county.
