Public Auction Sells Baptist Lot to J H Cochrane
The south seventy feet of the Baptist church lot was sold at public auction Saturday afternoon to J. H. Cochrane for 1670 dollars. Local notes include visits by Mrs. Wm. Vanden Berg and children to Eddyville to see relatives and multiple residents traveling to Des Moines and Des Come.

Andrew Carnegie Dies at Lenox Home at Eighty Four
Andrew Carnegie, steel magnate and philanthropist, died at Shad ow Brook in Lenox August 11 after a three day illness with bronchial pneumonia. He began giving away his fortune at 65, funding pensions for injured workers, libraries, and pipe organs for churches and institutions. He is survived by his wife and daughter, Mrs Roswell Miller.
