Young Havenville youth jailed for drunken driving near Hedrick
Ellsworth Yahn, twenty, was arrested Sunday in Hedrick after a collision on primary road 149 two miles west of Hick. His car crossed the road and damaged a wheel. he showed resentment at arrest. Sheriff Beasley jailed him to Keokuk County jail and he was found guilty on two counts, fined 200 dollars for DWI and given a three month sentence for transportation of alcoholic beverages, then paroled.

George Koller Fatally Injured in Mine Accident
George Koller aged 48 was fatally injured by a fall of slate at Rex No. 5 mine Tuesday morning. He died Wednesday evening at Albia hospital from internal injuries. Co-worker Mike Konovich was also injured and is recovering. Koller survived by his wife and three children. Funeral services held at St Peter's Louilia, Oct 19. Burial in St Peter's cemetery.

Grinnell Man Killed as Train Hits Truck
J C Upchurch died four miles east of Grinnell when a Home Oil Chevrolet truck collided with Rock Island No 8. Explosion tore the 350 gallon gasoline tank, setting a blaze that destroyed the vehicle and burned the body. Witnesses reported flames up to a hundred feet high and the engineer suffered facial burns. No insurance coverage existed on the truck.

Rock Valley Bee editor A L Halstead mourns the deaths of his mother Mrs W C Halstead of Coggan Iowa and his father W C Halstead. The mother died Friday and the father Saturday 22 hours later. Mr Halstead aged 91 in March 1129 and Mrs Halstead aged 89. A double funeral was held at Cogane on Monday afternoon October.

Pool hall manager fatally injured in Bucknell Haydock
Jim Henry a 56 year old Black man who ran Gaines pool hall in Bucknell Haydock was found mortally wounded after being struck above the left ear with a pick and his room set on fire to cover the crime. The body was found by neighbor Joe Hogg at 4 am as smoke filled the second floor. Sheriff and coroner led the investigation with post mortem by Coroner Hyatt and Dr Powell. Henry had formerly run the pool hall during mining camp days and had been living there while taking care of Gaines property. Investigators believe the door was locked when entry was forced and unlocked for the assailant to gain access.

Jimmie McKeag was badly injured last Thursday evening while working on paving between Pella and Des Moines. A loose handle on machinery struck him across the forehead causing pain. He was brought home and is being cared for locally.

Spence Walters of Montezuma died on a fishing trip when he suddenly slipped from a log into the Iowa River. Billick attempted a rescue but could not reach him. Searchers, including Tama Indians, found the body Saturday morning about thirty rods from the fall. Coroner’s inquest held in Chelsea. body taken to Malcom for burial in Ivy Hill cemetery. Walters’ daughter Mrs. F W Preston of Chicago and her husband arrived after telegraphed news. Funeral held Tuesday at the family home. Reverend Baker officiated. Burial followed at Ivy Hill Cemetery.
