Weathered forecast and local notes from Amsterdam News
The column reports frost, heavy rainfall totaling about 3% inches in the past week, and rising waterways with the Des Moines river bank full. It predicts a hard winter and wet fall followed by a dry spell farmers crave, while noting a Sunday school turnout and a hospital update on Mrs. John Kamerick after a serious operation. A parade critique and a remark on modest dress provoke local sentiment.
