Reporters describe a northwest storm striking the Reese area with the Phaugh property near its path. Buildings sustained damage as windows shattered and a basement area flooded while residents assessed losses from hay, feed, and damaged straw stacks.
The report describes Mrs Flaugh and family rebuilding after a storm. A novel henhouse and table roost design improves cleanliness and access. Nests to be placed at ends with a small runway entrance. Insurance existed but was insufficient. Neighbors and farm folks are encouraged to visit and share ideas. The trip note ends with a view of a prosperous country despite the storm.

Leighton residents Mr. and Mrs. H W Vander Linden and Mr. and Mrs. M Vander Linden of Polla left for a visit with relatives in Sioux City and Sioux Center. Meanwhile Mr. and Mrs. Dick Van Zee hosted a surprise eighteenth birthday party for their son Eugene with games and a two course lunch provided by the hosts and Mr and Mrs Wm De Prenger.
Mrs Raymond Orr hosted TM bers and their families at a supper as a courtesy for Harold De Geus son of Mrs Cornie Kloot wrk who left Wednesday for Fort Des Moines to join the selective service army. Local residents from Pell Gradus Otley and Pella visited Dow Vriezeluar home while Mrs Arie Vander Hoek had a tonsillectomy in Des Moines last week.
