Fifty Years of Kate and Dave Jomas Wed Anniversary
The fiftieth wedding anniversary of Kate and Dave Jomas was celebrated at the First Baptist Church fellowship hall transformed into a garden setting. About 150 guests attended as Everett Ward led ceremonies with a humorous sketch depicting the couple’s 50 years together, with music by Henry Cox and Bob Wegter. Out-of-town guests included E Richardson of Brownsville Texas and several others from Minnesota Iowa Des Moines Ames and California.

The Friendly Garden Club gathered at Mrs Katheryne Visser for the September 28 meeting. Marie Toom led the lesson on fall and winter bouquets with suggestions from Better Homes and Gardens and displayed arrangements. Refreshments and music complemented the program. Plans were set for the October meeting at Marguerite Rieckman’s home where the next lesson will be conducted.

Three visitors were present Mrs Aaron Brummel Mrs Cornie Vroom and Mrs Cornie Roorda plus ten members. Refreshments were served by the hostel. The program centered on Foods for the Coming Holidays with leaders the Toom sisters and each member to bring recipes for roll call.
