Local residents take Smoky Mountains trip this week
Locals Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit K. Van Zee and Mr. and Mrs. Armour Boot left Thursday for a vacation in the Smoky Mountains and expect to return by week’s end. Visitors at Crystal Lake included Lloyd Vander Streek and family, Gordon Thomas and others from Redlands, California, and Jerry Notting, all guests of Herman Notting and his niece. The Van Houwelings, now in Ames from Oakton Virginia, with Dr. C. D. Van Houweling serving as assistant director of a new animal laboratory in Ames, attended Meredith Drive Reformed Church services in Des Moines and visited in Ames.
