Autoist Uninjured But Loses Sight
Ernest Chapman of Iowa City was in a car crash near the 149 and 63 junction west of Hedrick last Thursday evening. His sight was lost after being brought to Sigourney hospital. Dr. Charles Updegraff of Boone, a renowned eye specialist, examined him.

Bachelor dies after stair fall near Monroe
Prairie City News reports 71 year old Herman Strater died from a fatal fall down stairs at home four miles northeast of Monroe. Fred Strater found the body at six o'clock Saturday morning. Cause listed as a broken neck with a minor forehead bruise. Suspected no foul play. clothes and a holstered pistol were undisturbed. Survivors include brother Fred, two sisters Mrs Hummel and Mrs Post, and several nephews and nieces.

Man Found Dead After Consuming Canned Heat in Chariton
Charles Prewitt Young, 41, of Beardstown Illinois, was found dead near Highway 34 in Chariton. He had been living in an abandoned railroad coach by the Rock Island tracks. Identification by coat papers. former wife from Omaha identified him. No inquest planned. Sheriff removed a can of canned heat earlier, death said to result from its consumption.

Construction Worker Falls From Bridge In Iowa
R B Walden a 32 year old painter with Hannon and Everett Construction fell 15 feet while painting the new Wabash railroad bridge east of Howell near Harv ey. He suffered a fractured vertebrae and was hospitalized at Mercy in Oskaloosa. His condition was described as having a good chance to recover. The 120 foot span replacement dangled beneath him as he swung from a scaffold.
