Keosauqua state park course hosts a fourball match among C. E. Rowland A. B Norman Gay Morgan and Dr. McClurg. Rain interrupts play after nine holes while bets on oyster stews keep tally.
Pat Gallagher drives home and roams into a flock of chickens. A white leghorn rooster crashes the windshield, rests in the car, and ends up as dinner. The story notes the bird cost about $2 per pound and the windshield repair was $5.85.
Maurice Martin a 21 year old from Oskaloosa and son of Mrs C M Martin was found dead beneath the Rock Island trestle over Spring Creek. He had slit his wrist and plunged into the water seeking relief from lifelong illness. The body was found by Lawrence Andrews and the coroner ruled it a suicide with no inquest to be held.
Seymour resident Harry Moore was bitten on the leg and arm Tuesday by his pet fox terrier. The dog had been missing for days and was found in a neighbor’s shed in apparent ill health. Moore tried to lift the dog, but it attacked him. Neighbors helped capture the animal and it was taken to Dr. Kincade for examination. The dog was killed and its head sent to Town City for rabies testing, though no report had been received yet.
Residents were roused at nine o clock Tuesday night by a town fire siren drill staged by officials with a sales pitch behind it. Many hurried out in night clothing only to find no fire and return to bed baffled by the stunt. The timing and purpose were questioned by the townspeople.
Goehring of Fremont and Rose Hill Savings Bank filed a Mahaska district court claim in Oskaloosa against Le Mars Mutual Insurance Association. They seek $5,100 for fire damage to the Goehring home and barn losses on August 22, 1931, alleging the insurer has not paid due insurance. The Rose Hill bank held a mortgage.
A petition alleges the house fire caused loss of the insurance policy and the insurer claims the plaintiff failed to pay a premium on time. The defense argues no premium demand was made until after the fire and that payment was made then.
November circulation reached 4 645 with a daily average of 202. The library remains a community center as popular titles like A White Bird Flying circulate while many patrons from outside town must pay 5 cents to borrow and may keep books for two weeks. A gift of a library card for 2 dollars is suggested as a Christmas present.

Home Economics girls plan a tea for mothers Friday afternoon, and experiments with a white rat on a milk diet are noted to show weight stability.
The Eddyville Tribune reports heavy rainfall saturated soil and overflowing streams. The Des Moines River, cited by Bert Roberts, sits at about 17 feet near noon, the highest since the 19 foot flood two years ago. Water covers lower lands and backwater reaches two feet across nearby roads as the river rose overnight.
Stanley Baldwin notes continued flood impact with back-water in town and sewer issues at the Baptist church corner. He urges a proper graded road with open ditches before next year's election and calls for Northwest Wapello representation on the board of supervisors.
