The State Highway Commission outlines a 1956 plan totaling about 62.9 million dollars for 292 projects on 89 routes. The program boosts paving to 338 miles with 528 miles of grading and 40 miles of city paving, plus 474 miles of widening and 82 widening projects for narrow bridges, aiming to modernize Iowa roads.
