Rotary Club heard Henry Vander Voort, a Summit area grocer, discuss his business and hobby of retail groceries. The gathering also noted community club activities from Summit Strivers 4-H to Thanksgiving plans and local veterans events.
The Federated Club met on Tuesday November 15 at Mrs Nesbit’s home. G Waechter reported a successful library art exhibit of twenty seven pictures from nine local artists. Linder noted 132 diphtheria and 12 smallpox vaccinations administered this week by local doctors at school health clinics. She invited members to view the syphilis film For All Our Sakes at her home November 21. Ramsey took towel orders made by Town’s blind women in the chairman’s absence. The president said the club will canvass for the Red Cross through Thanksgiving then work on Christmas seals. Ed Van Gorp led an illustrated talk on California scenery. Hostesses were Kaldenberg, Linder, Baer, Forbes, and Miss Ver Heul. Next meeting December 20 at Mrs Waechter’s home.
The Fortnightly Literary Society gathered at Gra Tautenbach’s home on Thursday November 10 1938 Esther Boat delivered an excellent review of Daphne Du Maurier novel Rebecca.
