Bleach Choices for Laundry Day and Fabric Care

About 90 percent of homemakers use bleach. Hypochlorite bleaches like Clorox and Purex whiten white cotton or linen but can harm wool or silk. For wool, silk, or delicate fabrics use sodium perborate bleaches, which are milder and often include softeners to remove soap scum rather than whiten deeply. Always test on an inconspicuous spot first.
