Tulip Time Flower Show Winners Named in 1966
Margaret A Waechter won the Sweepstakes award in Horticulture at the 1966 Tulip Time Flower Show sponsored by the Pella Garden Club. Mrs John De Jong won the Sweepstakes award in the Artistic Division. Other Horticulture winners included Award of Merit recipients Harry Grond Eva Grootveld and Mrs George Ver Steeg plus a Blue Ribbon group led by Pat Ulrich Margaret Waecter Jo Smorenburg Harry Grond Neal Vincent Van Veen Grace Schreiner Margaret Samson Eva Grootveld Ann Hagen Freda Ten Hagen Johanna Bogaards and Mrs George Ver Steeg. Artistic winners included Tri Color Award recipients Mrs John De Jong and Table Setting winner Mrs John Hoogenakker and Award of Distinction to Mrs John De Jong. Junior winners featured Kimi Kolenbrander and Mary Van Vark in High School. 1967 theme will be Flowers In Amsterdam and was backed by the Historical Society. The Garden Club thanks all participants and attendees for their support.

Tulip Time in Pella Ends With Memories of Festive Weekend
The 1966 Tulip Time festival wrapped after three days of parades, Dutch dances, and tours. Attendance was strong, with visitors praising teamwork and the town’s organized, carnival-free atmosphere. Highlights included the Wyatt Earp home tours, Sinter Klaas reenactments, and the rebuilt Dutch Street organ.
