City awards coal contract to Phil Bishop

City council action on the coal tests at the municipal light and power plant awarded the contract to Bishop Coal Company. The light and water committee said tests showed no significant difference between mines and suggested a split arrangement, later approved as Bishop’s bid with Riggans to join later. Prices set at mine run 2.50 and storage 2.60 per ton. The gravel pit filling matter at Howell station was referred to the city solicitor with county board input.
