Lovilia to Offer Free Saturday Picture Shows

Eight month old William Longcor Jr died in Muhaska hospital after injuries from a collision between the Longcor car and an M and St L freight train near his north Oskaloosa home Saturday afternoon. Mother and Son Seriously Burned Near Fremont
Mrs. DeVerne Willikin and her son Bobby were badly burned at their home six miles northeast of Fremont. A trash fire in a chicken house ignited by kerosene oil from a child's can spread flames to their clothing. They were treated by Dr. Henry and taken to Ottawa hospital where they are slowly improving as a large nearby gasoline tank exploded and the coop burned.

Alcohol raid nets whisky mash and equipment seized
Deputy sheriffs took Herman Mooney into custody at a hotel based on affidavits. About 250 gallons of liquid believed to be whisky mash were found in fifty gallon barrels, along with two pressure heaters, all confiscated. Hiddyville Tribune reports the arrest and seizure.

J E Yates of Ottumwa, a traveling salesman, was arrested after a Monday morning crash on Primary Road No 84 near the Catholic cemetery. He allegedly struck two Chariton cars, fled, and was jailed in Monroe County after authorities from Lucas County brought him to Chariton for hearing. He was reported as heavily under the influence though not seriously injured. the wreck left the car badly damaged.

Centerville Woman in Car Wreck Near Lovilia
A Ford sedan carrying Mrs Hal Waughoo Mrs Inas Mrs Grant Everman Mrs M Beadle and Mrs Ethel Swanson from Centerville overturned one mile south of Lovilla on primary road 6 at noon Friday. Mrs Swanson suffered a severed artery in her right leg and heavy bleeding, later transported to Centerville hospital by Dr. Stafford and reported recovering. The occupants were bruised and cut. the crash occurred as the car met a Wabash train, with someone warning the driver. The driver mistook the track for a crossing and braked into a grader ditch. The car was badly damaged.

Farm Dwelling Destroyed by Fire in South at Town
