Flood control talks in Skunk River valley meeting
More than 200 farmers from 18 counties attended a Sigourney public meeting with Army engineers and Soil Conservation Service officials. Col. W N Leaf outlined a planned Skunk basin survey for 1948-49, while John Glass stressed a watershed approach to conservation. Dam sites were discussed, but experts urged coordinated soil protection to save topsoil and reduce flood losses, which last June totaled over 4.1 million dollars.
