Prep Athletic Group votes to enforce 18 game limit
The Representative Council of the Iowa High School Athletic Association set an 18 game per season limit for boys basketball starting 1956-57. No more than six games may be played in November, the 16 game after November 30 remains, and clinic games count as scheduled. A motion to ban games during Christmas failed. The eight team state final was favored over the 16 team plan. Sub-state neutral sites proposal was rejected. Sports writers and broadcasters met with the council to discuss service improvements.

A chocolate frosting recipe developed by the American Honey Institute combines sugar butter light cream honey and unsweetened chocolate in a double boiler. After melting and beating the mixture add warmed egg yolks then cook briefly to thickened smoothness. Chill to a light spreading consistency for frosting two 8 inch layers.
