Income tax for liquor store employees deemed federal levy
State liquor commission workers are identified as the only state employees required to pay the federal net income tax. After consulting federal rulings, these employees on state payrolls will be taxed since their duties are those of operating a state business rather than performing mere government functions. The liquor law enforcement division is expected to be exempt because its roles are governmental rather than business in nature.

Early Repair Of Machinery To Save Time And Crops
County Agent Walter Brown urges repairing and adjusting farm machinery before spring work to prevent crop losses from delayed planting or harvesting. About 75 percent of field breakdowns come from neglecting adjustments or late repairs. Byron Virtue of Iowa State College says repair is wise if the machine isn’t obsolete, repairs are cheaper than a new unit, and it will work well after repair.

Overhaul Costs And Upgrading Machinery Decisions
In some cases machines are fifty percent worn making complete overhaul difficult and expensive. Sometimes replacing with a newer, larger capacity machine yields enough extra output to justify the higher upfront cost. More than likely this trend drives capital replacement decisions.
