A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs James Main at Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa on Wednesday March bth. Mrs Jacob De Vries of Reasner was dismissed March 4 after medical treatment. Firemen enjoyed a supper at the fire station Thursday March 6 courtesy Rosscreen Company. Mrs Harold Vander Linden and Archie Lee Vander Hart had medical events at Mercy Hospital in Oskaloosa and Mercy, respectively. Multiple residents, including Marion Klein in service overseas, and Gladys Knoot, entered Mahaska for medical treatment. The Vanzeys visited Denver while Cpl. Van Zee is stationed at Lowry Air Base. Fred Vander Zyl of Long Beach suffered a stroke and is in hospital. his sister is Mrs Leonard Ver Ploeg of Pella. Don Palmer and Peter Langstraat visited relatives in D. C. and California. Captain Don Davis and his wife Betty Huibregtse are linked to Central College. Bonnie Buerkens attended FHA meetings in Des Moines. The Eysinks plan travel to Ft. Bliss, Texas. Dick Lautenbach, an insurance man, was called into service on March 12.

OPS Percentage Markup Survey to Start March 17
A nationwide OPS survey will study markups on food and non food items across grocers beginning March 17. Iowa price official Vincent L Browne says the four week survey will sample wholesale and retail grocers large enough to yield data. OPS will use current OPA markups as baseline and review possible changes.

Subsequent visits note friendships and improvements among residents and families during a period of shared daily life.

Sail Ver Steeg born May 14 1871 in Pella Iowa died February 18 1952 at his Corsica South Dakota home aged 60 years 9 months 4 days. He moved with parents to Harrison Dakota Territory at 15 and lived in Dakota except two years in Wisconsin. He married Lena Mollema on October 26.

Local Man Dies After Long Life of Service
Born in 1892 at Harrison he served as Sheriff of Douglas county for ten years and belonged to Grace Reformed Church of Corsica. Survived by his wife six children and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 21, 1952 at Grace Reformed Church Corsica with Rev. B. D. Hietbrink officiating. Burial followed in the Harrison family plot.

March is the month for Iowa legume seed producers to contact beekeepers for pollination by honey bees, says R J Walstrom of Iowa State College extension entomology. A minimum of two colonies per acre is needed for adequate pollination in most sections of the state.
