Plan the Farmstead to Be Convenient Efficient
Landscape development of the farmstead is more than a planning task. Johny Simmons, Town State College architect, outlines practical layout ideas for farm efficiency and wind wise placement. He urges drawing the layout to scale, placing buildings to minimize wind exposure and maximize accessibility, with the garage near the house and a drive from the farm court. Weather and wind directions determine the optimal farm group relative to the house in four cardinal fronting schemes.
