Southern Iowa Phesasnts Favored for Restocking Strategy
Southern Iowa game managers push a southern strain theory as they trap more than 400 pheasants since January 1 in southwestern counties. Birds are restocked in southern Iowa to establish populations where they previously did poorly, with about 1,300 birds trapped since 1955 and shipped to Boone or the State Game Farm as brood stock.
