Fifty Two Marion Co Disabled Aided By State Agency
Marion county had 18 handicapped persons among 1 756 Iowa disabled rehabilitated in 1955 56 by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation of the State Department of Public Instruction. A report titled The Disabled Can Work shows 52 from this county among 4 898 statewide served in two years. Clerking and kindred jobs led with 297, agriculture 169, 107 entered professional fields, 181 into personal services. Four other classifications accounted for 484. The report notes disabilities from accidents and disease and rising demand for services.
