Helen Den Besten Weds Verlan Dykstra in Prairie City
Helen Den Besten daughter of Mr and Mrs George Den Besten of Prairie City became the bride of Verlan Dykstra son of Mr and Mrs Elmer Dykstra of Pella on Thursday December 28 at the Christian Reformed church in Prairie City. The ceremony was performed by Rev Theodore Wevers in front of 126 guests with two bouquets of white mums and red centers. The bride wore a white satin gown with pearl beading and iridescent sequins, a long veil, a pearl set, and carried a cascade of dark red baby roses. Bridesmaids wore cream colored dresses while the maid of honor Glennyce Den Besten carried cream poinsettias. The reception followed in the church basement. The couple now live on a farm 30 miles southwest of Pella.

Mr and Mrs Ray Van Rees celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary Friday evening February 16 at the First Reformed church with eighty five guests and relatives in attendance. Bonnie Van Rees managed the guest book while Jake Brand led a program featuring group singing a piano solo The Reast March by Sharon Van Rees an original poem by Anthony Haverkamp and a vocal solo Faithful Shepherd. Many gifts were received. The couple then hosted neighbors February 17 at their home in honor of their 25th anniversary with a lovely gift presented.
