Injured rider hurt beside hay rack near Gilman
Michael Vos, 14, of Gilman, was riding a bicycle beside a loaded hay rack about a mile from home Thursday when he lost control and was thrown into a ditch. His bike was crushed under the rack, suffering a slight concussion and left shoulder and arm injuries. He is recovering at Pella Community Hospital. His family stayed with him during hospitalization.

Pella Man Escapes Injury After Car Hits Concrete Box
John Grandia 23 of Pella escaped injury Saturday afternoon when his car struck a concrete box on a Marion County road southeast of Monroe. Grandia pulled into a ditch to avoid another car, then went back onto the road and collided with the box. Deputy Harold Gates investigated. no charges filed.
