No Celebration of Fourth Here Planned
The chamber of commerce met to decide if Pella should invite nearby residents for a Fourth of July celebration. They postponed any public event to a later year, citing other communities’ plans and potential travel by locals. A swimming pool fund reached about $3,000 in pledges, but officials urged caution, calling the proposed seven percent return “blue sky.” The group delegated investigation to a friendly committee to study costs and operation elsewhere.
