KITTENBALL LEAGUE STAR DEFEATS SHELL
Star wins 10 to 2 as Knox ville fails to arrive for the tilt. Bevan of Star hit a three base shot and Van Arkel belted a sixth inning homer. Star pitchers Ten Hagen and Van Niewaal held Shell bats, with Aalbers and Verrips catching for Shell. Memorial Day opener features five games and a league standings update with Knotholers and Rolscreen leading. Next week schedules include Shell vs Knotholers and rodeo events at the state fair.

Pella Woman Enters Horse in Oklahoma Show
Miss Virginia Fowler of Pella Iowa has entered Captain Copper a crack five gaited gelding in the Hill Crest Saddleclub show at Bartlesville Oklahoma June 8 9. Fowler will ride the horse in six classes including the $500 championship stake. Entries exceed 200 as exhibitors from Iowa Missouri Illinois Kansas Arkansas Oklahoma Nebraska Texas California and Oregon compete for prizes totaling 4400.

State Fair to Stage Second Rodeo in Des Moines
The Iowa State Fair announced a second annual rodeo and Stampede to run August 24 to 30 during the fair. Prizes will be larger and entries expected from top cowboys and cowgirls, with a nightly finale of The Winning of the West. Officials predict 100 riders and over 150 head of wild horses and steers will be shipped to Des Moines for the events.
