Lime Available To Farmers In Marion County
Marion County residents may obtain limestone under the county program from now until October 15. Thousands of tons are expected to be spread, aiding soil fertility and crop yields, especially legumes. Each ton earns $1.50 toward soil building, with payment options through the county board of supervisors and inquiries at the County Auditor's office. Quarry sites near Tracy and potentially Pella serve northern farmers. The Ottawa district in Illinois yields the finest glass sand, and Illinois coal production is concentrated in fourteen counties.
