Pella players compete in Towa Open at Cedar Rapids
Six Jinior Tennis Club members entered the Towa Open drawing 200 entries from 16 states and one foreign country. Pete DeJong John Kuitwaard Ted Weirather Gordon Graham and Bob Vander Linden led Pella efforts in 15 and under, with results including DeJong and Kuitwaard ousted by Ricky Miller and Vander Linden reaching the later rounds. In 13 and under, Muyskens and Weirather showed grit, while Gordon Graham won one match before a second round exit. Fourteen Little League Des Moines players visited for a heat affected day of 19 matches, with Pella Juniors prevailing twice in three days.

Rolseseek trailed 7 1 but rallied to win 12 11 over Rosscreen in a tense city league game. Leo Van Vark allowed 14 baserunners while fan ding eight. Marv De Zwarte Marion Van Hol and Dick Edwards TM paced the offense with homers and key hits. Bob Plate and Jerry Blom led Rosscreen with multiple hits and a homer in a tough loss. Leroy was the winning pitcher for Rolseseek.
