Colfax Sale Reports Strong Cattle and Hog Demand
A large Saturday sale featured 292 cattle with a firm cow market 14.00 to 15.10, heavy bulls 17.30 to 17.60, and a breeder at 247.50 per head. Light calves and Holsteins sold well, with dairy calves 20.00 and up. 1046 hogs sold in multiple divisions from 7.50 to 15.80 for fancy droves, primary weights and feeders. All hogs and sows sold strong for the day.

Tunis Goemaat a Leighton farmer dies at 61 after a heart attack. Born February 10, 1900 south of Pella, he married Alice Rouw in 1928 and had three children. His second wife was Rachel Kolenbrander, married in 1986. one daughter survives. Funeral July 5 at Ebenezer Reformed Church in Leighton with burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Pella.
