In Storm Lake in the yard of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Fiete, the class gathers for its first reunion. An odd plant resembling an oversized onion, a giant allium, stands near the group. The bulb, about six inches in diameter, came from a nursery as a surprise package.
In spring 1921 twenty three seniors graduated from Pella High School. On July 1 1961 the class gathered for a reunion the first since graduation day with the speaker and diploma presentations. Only two members are known dead Christine Meyer and the 40th anniversary host. The evening featured old photos memories and no formal program.
The State Services for Crippled Children will hold a no fee diagnostic clinic at Osceola Elementary School on Thursday July 27. Eligible under 21 from Clarke Decatur Lucas Madison Marion Ringgold Union Warren and Wayne counties may be referred by a physician or dentist. A team of specialists will provide complete examinations and services including pediatrics orthopedics pedodontia psychology speech and hearing physical therapy nursing social work and electrocardiography. The SSCC also distributes penicillin to prevent rheumatic fever recurrences. Director Dr John C MacQueen, professor of pediatrics at The State University of Iowa College of Medicine.

J F Rabe secretary of the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners says most users are tempted first with marihuana and may not realize they are using dope before progression to harder narcotics. He notes some are dared to try the drug and believe they can stop anytime, but that belief is mistaken.
Rabe told peace officers that narcotics control the individual and noted a rise in Town narcotics arrests from 2 to 22 over two years. He described physical effects of addiction including slowed breathing and pulse, lowered blood pressure and temperature, reddened eyes, pinpoint pupils, drooping eyelids, dizziness, unease, tearing, muscle twitching, stomach pains, and seeking excessive warmth.
